An italian company specialized in the manufacture of iron and steel is looking for innovative materials as alternatives to the steel used in laser-cutting platform. Partners are sought to perform a Technical Cooperation Agreement.
The company manufactures iron and stainless steel to realize products based on customers order, guaranteeing a complete service: from processing of raw material to finished product, through machining of sheet metal and structural steel in general, assembly, finishing, sand-blasting and painting of iron articles, steel and aluminum.
The production of stainless steel machinery and finished products is oriented to the food industry (olive, wine and milk industry). Raw materials used are stainless steel 304 and Stainless Steel 316, along with iron.
One of the techniques used by the company in the metal processing is the laser cutting.
The system currently used is Bystar 4020 and its cutting platform is composed by notched steel blades mounted on the frame.
During the cutting phase of the metal elements, a powder, fused iron, is generated: it is deposited on the platform and it creates foulings thus affecting negatively on the cut of other materials such as stainless steel or aluminum.
Currently the company does not use any product or technology to clean the blades; they are simply thrown away when the amount of waste deposited is very high.
The company is looking for two different and alternative solution:
1) innovative materials as alternatives to the steel (the company could realize the blades): they could be metals or others materials completly different from metal.
2) innovative technology to clean the steel blades.
Type and Role of Partners Sought:
Type of partner sought: industrial company, research organisation.
Specific area of activity of the partner: Research and development/ producers of innovative materials and/or Research and development/ producers of solvents and release agents or other similar technologies.
Task to be performed: the partner sought should be able to develop the technology requested and/or to adapt/test its innovative materials to perform a Technical Cooperation Agreement.
